Quoting Professor Caron Beaton-Wells, “We are living in a world where the quality of public and political discourse are, for various reasons, at an all-time low. I think it’s incumbent on academics to use our position of privilege and put our knowledge and research to work to lift the quality of the debate on key issues affecting society.” As an academic initiative, we were founded in 2018 at Sciences Po to ensure the younger generations’ contribution to this debate in the field of competition law. We received great interest from both students and faculty members, which fueled our motivation to grow beyond Sciences Po and open our events to other competition law enthusiasts around the world.
Since January 2019, we regularly hold seminars and discussion groups where both students and more advanced scholars present their work. Our first conference on competition law and sustainability will take place at Sciences Po on 26 June 2019. Our events bring together young competition law enthusiasts with their peers, as well as advanced competition law scholars and practitioners.
We believe that all stakeholders should be heard: Regardless of your background, if you are a competition law enthusiast or simply wish to know more about competition law, you are welcome at We Are Competition!
